Ryan France was born in Grand Rapids Michigan on July 21, 1987. He attended St. John Vianney Catholic School until the 8th grade, and then went on to Catholic Central High School in downtown Grand Rapids. Ryan always had a passion for art and began taking private tutoring sessions at Kendall College of Art and Design throughout high school. When it came down to choosing a college to attend, Ryan had to decide between Western Michigan University and The Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA.
Not wanting to move too far away from his close-knit family, Ryan chose Western Michigan. Although Western was a great school, and Ryan had a great experience there, he felt after his first year that he had to follow his dream, or he would regret it forever. Ryan finished his freshman year of College and returned home for the summer. In August of 2006, Ryan packed up and moved to Savannah, GA, an eighteen hour drive from home and without knowing a soul.
Ryan quickly fell in love with the school, made a great group of friends, and realized that this was what he was meant to be doing. Ryan majored in Sequential Art, which is similar to illustration but with more emphasis on story telling. However, he also experimented with web design, graphic design, photo-retouching, fashion design, and even performing arts. By the end of his college career, Ryan felt that he had so much creativity, he couldn't possibly choose just one outlet for it.
After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design on May 30, 2009, Ryan moved to Chicago, IL for an internship with Devil's Due Publishing Company. Ryan shortly after found work as a graphic designer/illustrator/photo re-toucher for Transport Publishing Company, working on the magazine "American Fleet Managers' Buyers Guide." He worked for the company until May of 2010.
Ideally, Ryan would love to be working in graphic design/illustrative work. If you are interested in working with Ryan, or commissioning art from him, you can contact him or download a copy of his resume below.
